Meet Christine, a courageous young woman who takes part in the Make Way Young programma. Women and girls with disabilities, like Christine, often face a lot of barriers when they try to access sexual and reproductive health services. By sharing her story Christine hopes to raise awareness and to contribute to a more inclusive health care system.

In Zambia, attitudes towards people with disabilities are negative; they face stigma and discrimination in their communities and their work places. Since September 2021, under the Make Way programme and with technical support from the Liliane Fonds, two passionate women at Cheshire Homes Society of Zambia (CHSZ) have been mobilising organisations of persons with disabilities to campaign for the ratification of the African Disability Protocol.

The Africa Medical Equipment Facility (AMEF), a relatively new blended finance facility rolled out in Kenya since 2021, does not reach poor populations and fails to promote universal and equitable access to healthcare. This is the conclusion of a joint case study by Akina Mama wa Afrika and Wemos, in which we critically analyse the design and rollout of the AMEF.
