Intersectionality in Action: Youth-Led Change by BCN in Nakuru

BCN has been focal in providing comprehensive sexuality education to young people particularly youth with compounded vulnerabilities. The organization is at the forefront of implementing budget advocacy, carrying out social media campaigns to drive awareness and sensitization on intersectionality, hosting webinars as well as implementing the Intersectional, See, Judge Act Tool by The Circle.

Enhancing SRHR understanding in marginalised youth

Recently the Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (AYSRHR) Scientific Conference was held in Kenya with the theme ‘priorities for advancing AYSRHR in Africa'. Our youth representatives attended to present their abstract on enhancing SRHR understanding in marginalised youth through combining religion and spirituality with social accountability strategies.

Applying an intersectional lens: Training of Trainers

The Make Way Training of Trainers course was recently completed in Kenya, which develops the skills of trainers on the Make Way intersectional lobby and advocacy toolkit. With twenty collaborating partners and youth representatives participating from across the Make Way implementing countries, the course strived to improve understanding of intersectionality, show how to apply and provide training on the Make Way tools and enhance the participants’ training skills.

Voices from the Pre-Youth SDG Summit on Intersectional Engagement

Youth participants of the Make Way programme in Zambia, convened earlier this month at the Pre-Youth SDG Summit Event on Intersectional Youth Engagement to collectively voice their aspirations and concerns as young changemakers in Africa. With a shared commitment to attaining the SDGs through innovation, inclusivity, and meaningful engagement, they present this Communique as a call-to-action for a more equitable and sustainable future.

CSW68 and NGO CSW Forum: A Personal Reflection on Advocacy and Collaboration

Myria Koutsoumpa, Global Health Advocate at Wemos, recently attended her first Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) 68 and NGO CSW68 Forum. It was an action packed week filled with joint advocacy work, our own Make Way webinar session about access to healthcare for all and meaningful participation of youth delegates.
